I am soooooo excited to finally be sharing this exciting update about our adoption process with you all! It’s probably not what most of you are expecting….
We are now in the process of adopting a baby (actually, probably more like a toddler) from South Korea!
I still haven’t really figured out how to put into words all of what God has been doing in our hearts and lives through our adoption journey, but I’m going to try to do my best!
It really boils down to this…
There are an estimated 153 million orphans in the world.
As we were waiting month after month to be chosen as parents to a newborn, God began speaking to our hearts about the millions of orphans all over the world who are waiting to be chosen. Right now.
The lyrics to these two songs have been playing on repeat in my mind and probably best explain what has happened in our hearts through this adoption journey.
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
Break my heart for what breaks yours
Everything I am for Your kingdom’s cause
As I walk from earth into eternity
We want this to be about his Kingdom. Not about us. We want to go where he calls us.
So, after much prayer, and some seriously awesome things that have happened that have confirmed to us that this is what we are supposed to be doing, we’ve officially made the switch to international adoption. I will be sharing in an upcoming post more about some of the reasons we chose South Korea and what the process looks like from here on out. What it means for us right now is that we are working hard to meet some international adoption requirements that weren’t needed for our domestic adoption home study. Once our home study is revised and sent off, we will wait to receive our child’s referral – which could happen rather quickly. In the meantime, we are starting to research and learn all we can about Korean culture. Josiah already has a new, favorite cartoon which is apparently a favorite amongst the kiddos in South Korea!
Watching Pororo – his new fav!
We are so thankful for those of you who are following along with us on our adoption journey. We are excited to see how this all unfolds and are trusting in God’s perfect plan, provision, and timing.
“I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you.” John 14:18
